This pocket talk will present data from an ongoing long-term study of recent immigrant arrivals to the Washington DC metro region. This study is a project of American University’s Immigration Lab, a faculty-student research collaboration supported by its Center for Latin American and Latino Studies. Student researchers will discuss several notable outcomes of this project, highlighting the experiences of new in-migrants, including some of the ways they have sought to adapt, resettle, and integrate into our region, but also challenges they continue to negotiate along the way.
The Summer Pocket Talks is a series of interactive presentations and discussions, designed to kindle broader conversations and insights on timely issues and topics. As an attendee, you will hear from thinkers from the social sciences and humanities, be able to ask questions and discuss with speakers and other attendees, and connect with other interested in pressing topics.
